ILLingsworth – I DIDN’T ASK FOR THIS
if you like any part of this, please share the part(s) you like. thank you. for awhile, i had accidentally turned off the download option for this album. i remedied that but i know there were def some folks that wanted to support monetarily and couldn’t lol. my bad.
these are weird songs that no one asked for. people forget i rap and sometimes i do to. this is a step towards changing that. i wrote all of the raps that i recite and i made these beats. everyone else who raps on this project wrote their own raps. we’re racist against ghosts.
having a passion for creating is something i didn’t ask for. sometimes it feels like a curse. i didn’t ask for the life-hurdles. you didn’t ask for raps.
04. STINGY BASTARD
05. quinoa flakes
07. drama means
08. piss on a thing (and not a person)
ILLingsworth – DOOD
this is the spiritual successor to “doodles” (illingsworks.bandcamp.com/album/doodles). why? i don’t know. and i guess that’s why. no disrespect at all to devin the dude. he is in the top 3 of all dudes, occupying either the 1 or the 2-seat. this project is called “dood” because my favorite movie is “the big lebowski”.
shout out to craig paul nowak and rasinbrandi for all the work they did in making a plaster bust of a buster’s face. all i did was sit there. craig is doing some cool stuff at the red bull house of art (in detroit) that happened to coincide with me wanting to release some music, hence the cover. the lines on the hat took craig all of forever. check him out: www.collect-faces.com/craig-paul-nowak-the-artist/. just to reiterate, i did not have a bust of my face made specifically for this. things happen, other things happen, and then i come along to make things relate. these are all nice people whom had the misfortune of crossing paths with me lol.

ILLingsworth – SOONER OR LATER
This release is being done in conjunction with my buds over at neversaydiemi.com, a cool site that you should read while listening to this project. they are branching out into making music posts, and they’re kicking it off by premiering a lot of brand new content from michigan musicians. please go and check them out. neversaydiemi.com/listen/
you can listen to the joint in one solid block by going here: soundcloud.com/never-say-die-mi/nsd-mix-01-doc-illingsworth
i went 15 months straight, dropping projects every month, from january 2014 to march 2015. then i helped Rufio Jones release his 2nd project “Rufio Jones’ Loot Suit”. then i kinda went dark.
but only because MY FIRST SOLO VINYL & FIRST SOLO CASSETTE were on the horizon in the form of the newly relased project, “Worth The Wait” (AND YOU CAN ORDER IT HERE www.fatbeats.com/collections/illingsworth-worth-the-wait/products/illingsworth-worth-the-wait-lp), on House Shoes’ Street Corner Music imprint, which is distributed by Fat Beats.
even though i was only in the shadows for a few months, it felt a little agonizing. don’t get me wrong, i’ve been working. it just didn’t feel great to not be sharing the labors.
but i knew, sooner or later i’d be here, sharing with you again. i really enjoy sharing the efforts. i also wanted to present something that was pretty different than “Worth The Wait” (click that link up there and get that damn vinyl. SERIOUSLY GET IT OR THEY’RE GONNA BREAK MY LEGS. ok, nobody’s probably gonna do that but, whatever.)
this project is a short collection of sample-free selections. each song was created in ableton. i chose to do these original joints in ableton because the majority of my sample-based music is created primarily in sony acid pro 7. switching programs allowed me to take a slightly different approach than usual. i used a lot of vsts. i also used the Novation Mininova, and the microKorg. also used my lizard-brain.
this isn’t me changing up my whole style and abandoning the samples. i just wanted to share a different style for a sec, and put something into the universe. you knew i was gonna do it, sooner or later.

GOT A SHOW IN DETROIT ON NOV 22, 2014: www.facebook.com/events/387125944779456/
it will include sushi, a man NAMED dr. sushi, doc waffles, and myself. the name of the show is “SELF-PROCLAIMED DOCTORS”. bring a lab-coat and an empty stomach. sushi will actually be served.
ANIMATED COVER: bit.ly/1sIav5w
get part 1 here: illingsworks.bandcamp.com/album/acts-of-nod
this is not a set of bangers. this is not a collection of things to make you bounce. this particular set of things was designed to make you nod your head. it contains a few oldies (to me) and more. this is part 2. your insurance policy does not cover acts of nod.
get part 1 or check out any of the other numerous releases on the bandcamp. been having lots of stuff get love on egotrip, factmag, potholes in my blog, deadendhiphop, and more. so if you care about the opinions of music-distribution entities, then hopefully these details push you to download and share my material. the result of these things will hopefully benefit you and me.
